Hi there! I’m Ashley, the founder (and namesake) of Ash Tree Birth Services. My birth work journey started with the birth of my daughter in 2013. We had an amazing midwife, and her team of assistants was wonderful. Over the next several years I heard a number of negative birth stories, and it grieved me that no one was there to advocate for these women and help them achieve the experience they wanted. However, I was also able to support my friends and my sisters through a number of births, and the role of empathetic assistant spoke to my heart. Several of the midwives involved in these positive birth stories encouraged me to develop my skills and apply my caring nature as a doula.

I took my first official steps on the road to becoming a doula in 2023 when the midwife at a friend’s birth convinced me to attend a class on birth work. Since then, I have been studying and training, working with midwives, doulas and families to make great birth stories happen. As your doula, I will work with you to discover exactly what elements make up your ideal birth plan. I’ll be right there with you during your birth, amplifying your voice and making sure that you have the autonomy to make informed decisions.

While working with families in the birth space is incredible, I noticed that many did not have a support system for after the birth. I felt called to answer this need in my community and began training to become a postpartum doula. It's become an integral part of my work that I enjoy so much, because I get to see these families go from rooting to blossoming. 

In my 13 years of living in Washington I've met so many amazing birth workers and healthcare providers. They are an incredible network of resources and education that I can offer to my clients to support them throughout their journey.
